Built in 2013, this solid, beautiful and famous lodge was named after Sir Harry Johnstone, the founder of Mangochi district, formerly called Fort Johnston district, whose official house stood on this plot. Today, Sir Johnston’s colonial double storey house is part of this lodge, still intact and solid.

The lodge features 12 executive rooms, 1 self catering suite that comes with two bedrooms and 25 standard rooms, each thoughtfully designed to provide comfort and convenience. The accommodations offer a unique blend of historical character and modern amenities including air-conditioning in all rooms. Additionally, all rooms have both shower and bath.

For the corporate clientele, the lodge offers well-equipped 3 conference rooms with capacities of 150, 100 and 50 sits. These spaces are ideal for hosting meetings, seminars, and events.

Positioned at the heart of Mangochi District, this lodge enjoys a highly coveted location. Guests have immediate access to the serene lakeshore and is situated at a walkable distance to both the Mangochi War Memorial Tower and the Bakili Muluzi Bridge on the Shire River. The central setting guarantees constant flow guests to the lodge.

The property has a big restaurant, bar, 4 offices for management and lodge manager’s house which comes with 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen and family bath room.
